The purpose of this website is to ensure you have information about Petco’s benefit plans whenever you need it. Take time to familiarize yourself with the website, which contains plan overviews and summaries, links to important vendors (like medical, dental and life insurance carriers) and educational information. Becoming familiar with this site can help you get the most out of your benefits.
When Coverage Begins Direct Link
Directors and Above
Most benefits become effective on your date of hire. You can enroll in benefits up to 30 days following your date of hire.
All Other Full-time Partners
Most benefits become effective on the first of the month following 30 days from your date of hire. You can enroll in benefits up until the day before your effective date. If your status changes from part time to full time, benefits become effective on the first of the month following 30 days from the date of your change in status.
Part-Time Partners
Part-Time new hires have 30 days from their effective date of hire to enroll in the FlexWork Bridge Plan. Your coverage will become effective the first day of the pay period following your enrollment date. Visit the Part-Time Eligibility page to learn about eligibility.
401(k) plan participation
You become eligible for the 401(k) plan on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You must be at least 21 years old to participate.

Dependent coverage, if elected, begins at the same time your employee coverage begins. You will be required to provide proof of your dependent’s eligibility (such as a marriage or birth certificate) when requested.
Dependent Verification Process
Petco reserves the right to audit dependent elections to ensure they abide by plan rules. New Dependents will be required to have dependent verification documents submitted and approved in order for the dependent to be covered. Documentation must be submitted within 30-days of the Qualified Life Event (QLE) or Newly Eligible Enrollment. Exact details of the required documentation will be provided to you by Alight benefits enrollment portal when you add a new dependent.
Eligible Documents:
- Spouse – Government Issued Marriage Certificate, Tax return within the last 2 years
- Domestic Partner – Domestic Partnership Affidavit
- Child – Government Issued Birth Certificate, Adoption Certificate, Court Document

Full-Time Partners
When you are ready to enroll in benefits, click the Alight Benefits Enrollment Platform link at the top of the page to log in. New Users will need to set up an account by clicking New User link on the Alight page.

Part-Time Partners

If You Miss Your Enrollment Deadline or Don’t Enroll Direct Link
Full-Time Partners
If you miss your enrollment deadline or do not actively enroll within your enrollment period, you will receive only the Core benefits provided by the Company (Basic Life, AD&D insurance, Employee Assistance Program [EAP] and others if eligible) until the next annual Open Enrollment, unless you have a Qualified Life Event (QLE) change during the year.
Part-Time Partners
If you miss your deadline to enroll within your enrollment period, you will need wait until our next annual enrollment, unless you have a Qualified Life Event (QLE).
After You Enroll Direct Link
If you enroll in medical or dental coverage, you will receive your ID cards within 4 to 6 weeks after you enroll.
You will not receive an ID card if you enroll in the vision plan through XPHealth.
